    @simalexan @jhngrant @swardley In other words, I think there's a third option. Yes, trivial examples (e.g., the tea shop) are demotivating. Yes, starting on a real problem is intimidating. But there are simple and real starting problems that are both accessible and challenging enough to be interesting.
